1. Role
1.1 Q-Support to PPU in Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) and Preventive Quality Planning (PQP) as part of TTM process.

1.3 First escalation level for the Plant for purchased parts quality issues.
1.4 Support achievement of Cost targets for related Product Group along the entire Product Life Cycle.

2. Job Scope
2.1 Purchasing Quality responsibility and accountability for the responsible Product Group within the rBU along the product life cycle.
2.2 PQP (Preventive Quality Planning) for purchased parts; Operative handling of initial samples / ISIR release.
2.3 Complaint management.
2.4 Blocked stock handling & Concession handling.
2.5 Represent Purchasing in Plant Point-CIP activities.
2.6 Measure supplier Quality Performance: Plant / rBU specific KPIs.
2.7 Operative handling of quality cost reimbursement.
2.8 Trigger escalation of supplier (as input of Q-escalation process).
2.9 Support all the relevant quality projects in rBU project team.
2.10 RPP / Tooling (incl. tooling transfer): Tech. Discussion, measurement harmonization, Process audit, Test & qualification-check, Product Certifications.
 

• Responsible in SMT paste printing and glue process to develop, optimize processes for new product introduction/ development and sustaining product engineering activities based on proper studies (e.g. Design of Experiment, risk assessment, equipment & process capability).
• Generate and maintain the standardized work documents.
• Ensure that the respective area workstation and system are well maintained in operation condition.
• Define equipment preventive maintenance plan in close collaboration with maintenance team. Provide training on machine maintenance, operation and processes when necessary.
• To assist in major machine breakdown troubleshooting.

• To work closely with CoC (Centre of Competence) team to comply, standardize and improve processes via PFMEA and VVts/DMDs.
• Conduct equipment capability studies and evaluate processes. If needed, prepare ROI analysis and arrange supporting purchases.

• Provide support in process and line audits, technical advice request from project team.

Test Planning & Execution

To work on the following tasks with guidance:
1. To setup functional test system for product lines based on test specification (PAV) provided by PTE team
accordingly to following requirement:

• To track project budget and ensure equipment cost within the planed budget.
• On time delivery of test systems to the production line according to project milestone (include manage of equipment, hardware interface and mechanical jig and fixture purchase)
•  Release the test system according to Test System Release Procedure.
• To train and coach maintenance team to be able to handle test system breakdown more effectively and maintain test system in achieving FPY (NTF related FOR) and OEE target. (eg. The role of tribology engineer is to set up or develop component media mechanical interface test to simulate hard disk drive reliability performance. It is crucial to assist media R&D team to develop reliable tribology design

• Conduct advanced tribological testing and analysis using state-of-the-art equipment and methodologies

• To conduct monthly service & warehouse meeting

C. Administration

D. Staff Recruitment, Welfare & Development

• Recruit (subject to prior approval from the Branch Manager/Branch Operations Manager) for new Service Technicians/Service Lady

• Ensure that all staff has full understanding of the Company’s objectives and policies

Quality Assurance & Training

• Service training: To organize induction program for new technicians, maintain training records, to coordinate and participate as trainer for refresher training for service technicians and new staffs recruitment for all departments. Ensure a high level of competence in the required skills amongst service staff by providing continuing training and practical assistance & guidance in the field
• QA: To coordinate regular QC and to follow-up with specific client complaints where required. Develop good customer relationships through being knowledgeable about your work, and taking ownership of service problems
• OCS 224: Ensure that all customer complaints (callouts) are attended to within 24 hours without further escalation
• Supervisors Audits: Ensure that Service Supervisors duties are audited monthly
• Technicians Audits/TPA Assessment: Ensure each Service Technician is audited according to company requirement
• Service Audits: To carry out regular service audits of branches in all service area

E. Health & Safety

The Service Manager is responsible for implementing the arrangements detailed in the health and safety management system and the safe systems of work. Specifically the Service Manager will:

1. To understand and be aware of the requirement of Occupational Safety & Health Act 1994 to ensure that all staff for whom you are responsible are equally aware of the Act and its requirements.
2. To ensure that all chemicals are handled, stored and applied with due regard to the safety standards laid down within the Company, and that staff are never exposed to untoward risk in the course of their work

The Senior Packaging Engineer will lead packaging development and qualification activities for WD's HDD and Flash storage products. This is a technically hands-on and cross-functional leadership role — you will mentor junior engineers, drive complex packaging programs, and interface directly with customers, suppliers, and global engineering teams.

You are expected to operate with high autonomy, make independent technical decisions, and represent the Packaging Engineering function in NPI and sustaining programs.

Key Responsibilities : 
Technical Leadership

• Lead end-to-end packaging design, development, and qualification for complex HDD/Flash programs
• Define packaging architecture and material strategy for new and sustaining products
• Make independent technical decisions on packaging design trade-offs (cost vs. protection vs. sustainability)
• Act as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for packaging within cross-functional teams

Design & Qualification

• Own packaging qualification plans and test execution per ISTA/ASTM standards
• Review and approve packaging specifications, BOMs, and qualification reports
• Lead Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and deviation requests
• Drive DFM (Design for Manufacturability) and DFA (Design for Assembly) reviews

NPI & Program Management

• Lead packaging workstream for NPI programs from concept to mass production
• Manage packaging milestones and deliverables within program timelines
• Interface with global product teams, customers, and contract manufacturers

Vendor & Supply Chain

• Develop and qualify new packaging suppliers in Malaysia/ASEAN
• Lead supplier performance reviews and cost negotiation
• Drive packaging cost reduction (cost down) initiatives

People & Mentorship

• Mentor and coach junior/mid-level packaging engineers
• Conduct technical reviews and provide guidance on complex issues
• Support team capability building and knowledge sharing

Compliance & Sustainability

• Ensure all packaging meets regulatory requirements (RoHS, REACH, ISTA)
• Champion WD sustainability goals through eco-packaging innovation
• Maintain quality documentation per WD QMS standards

Continuous Improvement

• Lead RCCA for field packaging failures and damage incidents
• Drive Lean/Six Sigma improvement projects within packaging function
• Benchmark industry trends and propose technology upgrades

Key Responsibilities

• Act as Plant Product Owner for assigned product families from manufacturing stage through end-of-life (EOL).
• Serve as the main interface between Plant and Development for all product-related HW/SW issues.
• Drive First Pass Yield (FPY) performance and implement continuous improvement actions to meet targets.
• Lead root cause analysis and problem-solving activities for production and quality issues (e.g., FOR, field returns, 0km defects).
• Take ownership as Task Force Leader for critical product or process issues, coordinating cross-functional resources.
• Support failure analysis (FA) activities and collaborate with teams to define effective diagnostic tools.
• Transfer product know-how from development to plant during industrialization and ensure smooth product ramp-up.
• Participate in new product development (NPD) phases to incorporate plant lessons learned and prevent recurring issues.
• Provide technical risk assessments and decision justification for quality-related concerns.
• Lead and support cost improvement initiatives (e.g., RPP, IDC) to achieve plant and corporate targets.
• Develop and implement engineering and automation solutions to improve efficiency and reduce scrap.
• Ensure manufacturing readiness through line buy-off, release, and validation activities.
• Conduct technical training for production technicians and engineers.
• Collaborate with internal teams, contract manufacturers (CM), and stakeholders to achieve operational goals.
• Support data analysis and reporting (e.g., SQL queries, technical presentations) for management and customers.
• Provide support in sample builds, testing, and evaluation activities during early product phases.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Qualify, Assembly Sustenance and Process Improvements on Power QFN package and Cu Clip related thin die assembly processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Design package, develop processes to qualify PQFN (Power Quad Flat-No lead) packages for SPS (Smart Power Stage) products & its associated modules.
• Ramp up manufacturing volume and qualify required sources.
• Responsible for line sustaining. Improve assembly yield, capacity, quality and costs.
• Address internal and external customer feedback / issues collaborating with Test / Product Engineers, Quality & Operations organization.
• Manage Product Lifecycle Management documents to the latest status.
• Conduct change-management with suppliers to sustain / improve capacity and cost.

• To lead Sputter Process Improvement Projects (SU/STT/Cost/Quality/PPH & others), which include new products/machines/process qualification.
• To lead, supervise and coach/train process tech, include engineering specialist and characterize technicians.
• Responsible for sputter process related issues trouble shooting (common causes), work closely with Shift process team in sputter process sustaining, trouble shooting & improvement in order to achieve sputter utilization (down time) & quality goal.
