Melaka International School (MIS) was the brainchild of Allahyarham (Late) Dr Mohamed Ishak Syed Ahmed and his wife Mrs Shamsunnisa Ishak. MIS was established in early 1993 with the support of the State Economic Development Co.rporation and The Melaka Foundation modelled on the British school system. Before moving to its present premises, The School was located in Jalan Taming Sari and had a modest beginning with 2 kindergarten students. It later on offering elementary and secondary education. As the number of students grew in numbers and teachers, there was a need to move to a bigger site, so it moved to Jalan Kubu. In 2004, work began on a new five-acre site at Taman Siantan in Tengkera with a vision to have a school with a world class infrastructure while incorporating features to create awareness on global warming. Two acres of the land has been converted into an organic farm with features like solar energy power, rain water retention pond to recycle water, recycling of organic waste and organic fertilizer.
