Okay culture, a bit slow for a big media place
Pros: It's a really inclusive environment here. People genuinely care about the mission in the media industry. The London office has a nice buzz. The hybrid model allows decent work-life balance.
Cons: Decision-making can feel pretty slow for an established news organization. Sometimes it's hard to get new ideas off the ground as a Staff Writer. There's a bit of bureaucracy that can stifle innovation.
Advice to Management: Speed up decision-making processes. Empower teams to iterate faster on new journalistic initiatives. Cut down on some of the internal red tape that slows things down.

Solid Benefits, But Pay Could Be Better
Pros: The benefits package here is pretty solid for a large news organization. Things like health insurance and the pension plan are actually decent. They offer good support to employees.
Cons: However, the actual pay isn't great, especially for the London office. As a Content Editor, I felt underpaid compared to other media industry jobs. Raises are super small, often not keeping up with inflation.
Advice to Management: Please look at current market rates for journalism roles in London. Invest more in competitive salaries for your editorial staff. Retaining good talent will become tough.

Hybrid Work is Okay, But It's News
Pros: I liked the option for hybrid work; it definitely helps manage personal life. For writing or research, being able to WFH a couple days a week from the London office was a solid perk for a journalist. It's good for focused work when you're not out on a story.
Cons: The flexibility isn't really consistent across all roles. As a Staff Reporter, you're often needed onsite for breaking news or team collaboration. Remote options are there, but for active newsgathering in the journalism industry, you can't always choose your hours or location. It's still pretty much a 9-5 when things are busy.
Advice to Management: Keep pushing for clear guidelines on hybrid work for different editorial roles. It's tough when some teams have more freedom than others, especially in the news industry. More clarity would really help everyone plan better.
