OPSWAT protects critical infrastructure. Our goal is to eliminate malware and zero-day attacks. We believe that every file and every device pose a threat. Threats must be addressed at all locations at all times—at entry, at exit, and at rest. Our products focus on threat prevention and process creation for secure data transfer and safe device access. The result is productive systems that minimize risk of compromise. That’s why 98% of U.S. nuclear power facilities trust OPSWAT for cybersecurity and compliance.

Great place for growth and supportive leadership!
Pros: Working as a Software Engineer at OPSWAT in Tampa, FL, has been a fantastic experience. The leadership here is truly supportive and invests in your professional growth, which I really appreciate. There are tons of learning opportunities in the cybersecurity industry, and it's exciting to work on products that protect critical infrastructure. My colleagues are super smart and collaborative, making it a great place for a hybrid work setup. The company culture really fosters innovation.
Cons: While the company is growing rapidly, sometimes communication across different departments can feel a bit siloed, especially with a global team. It's not a huge issue, but it could definitely be smoother. Also, some internal processes for approvals can be a little slow, which is pretty common for a company of this size in the cybersecurity space. These are minor points, but definitely areas for improvement as OPSWAT continues to expand.
Advice to Management: Continue fostering open communication channels across all teams and streamline internal approval processes as the company scales. Investing in tools to break down silos would be beneficial.

Solid Job Security for Cybersecurity Professionals
Pros: Job security feels pretty solid here, especially as a Software Engineer working on core cybersecurity products. The company's focus on critical infrastructure protection gives it a steady market. I wasn't worried about layoffs in the Tampa, Florida office.
Cons: Growth can feel slow sometimes; it's not a hyper-growth startup environment. Some departments might feel less secure if projects get reprioritized. The overall tech industry can be unpredictable, but that's everywhere.
Advice to Management: Keep communicating market changes and company direction clearly to all employees. Transparency always helps with job security concerns, especially for those in non-core engineering roles.

Decent place, but career path can be fuzzy
Pros: You definitely learn a lot working on cybersecurity solutions. There are opportunities to work with new tech stacks, which is great for skill development as a Software Engineer. The hybrid work environment is a nice perk too.
Cons: Career growth is tough to see sometimes. Promotions feel slow and there isn't a really clear progression plan for individual contributors, especially for cybersecurity roles. It feels like you hit a wall after a certain point.
Advice to Management: Focus on creating clear career ladders and mentorship programs for technical roles. It'd help a lot with retention for the Software Engineer teams, especially in the Tampa office.
