Leadership is a bit of a mixed bag
Pros: Some direct managers are genuinely supportive, which made a huge difference. As a Site Reliability Engineer, I had a good amount of autonomy to tackle complex issues. The remote setup worked well for my work-life balance.
Cons: Upper management often changes strategic goals suddenly, making it tough to plan long-term in the crypto mining industry. There's a clear disconnect between the executive team and folks on the ground. It feels like our feedback doesn't always reach the top.
Advice to Management: Work on clearer, more consistent communication from the top down. Consistency in strategic direction would really help teams involved in the crypto mining operations. Empower middle managers more and actually listen to their feedback for better team morale.

Decent Hybrid Setup, Still Room to Improve
Pros: The hybrid work model is a solid perk for a large corporate company like IREN. As an Energy Operations Analyst, I get to split my time between the Turin office and working remote. It's a good way to save on commute costs and time.
Cons: It's not always as flexible as it sounds on paper. Some managers really push for more in-office days, even if your tasks don't require it. True remote work is almost impossible for most roles in the energy sector, which is a bit of a bummer.
Advice to Management: Encourage team leads to truly embrace the hybrid model. Trust your employees to get the work done, regardless of location, especially when the job allows for it.

Good Entry-Level, Slow Career Growth
Pros: It's a decent place to get your foot in the door. As a Junior Software Engineer, I learned a lot about the practical side of Bitcoin mining and managing data center operations. The work is steady.
Cons: Career advancement isn't a strong point here. There aren't many clear paths for promotion or opportunities to develop new skills, especially in the Rockdale, TX office. You can feel stuck doing the same thing.
Advice to Management: Think about investing more in employee development and creating clearer career paths. Give engineers more opportunities to take on new challenges and learn advanced skills.
