Paralegal

Decent place for legal foundation, slow growth
Pros: You get really good exposure to different legal matters early on, which is great for building skills in the corporate law firm environment. The senior lawyers are usually pretty willing to teach you the ropes as a paralegal.
Cons: Career growth felt pretty limited after a couple of years. There aren't clear promotion tracks for legal support staff, and it felt like you hit a ceiling unless you went to law school. It's tough to move up if you're not on the lawyer path.
Advice to Management: Create more defined career paths for non-lawyer roles within the firm. Invest in professional development for legal support staff beyond just basic training.

Leadership is a mixed bag here
Pros: Some senior partners are great mentors, really invested in your growth. They help you learn the ropes in commercial law and litigation. There's a solid support system in the Sydney office from peers.
Cons: Other leaders can be pretty hands-off or micro-managey, no in-between. Communication from top management sometimes feels disconnected from daily legal work. It's tough to get clear career path guidance for new legal roles.
Advice to Management: Try to standardize leadership training across all practice groups. Junior Legal Associates really need consistent guidance, especially regarding billable hours and professional development.
