Pros: You get to work on some truly massive diamond mining projects, which is cool for a Geologist. The pay and benefits are actually pretty solid for this mining industry, especially if you're willing to travel a lot. It's a well-known corporate environment, so the experience looks good on a resume.
Cons: The work-life balance here is rough, especially for field-based roles like mine. Expect seriously long hours, often working weekends on exploration projects. There's not much work flexibility in the Johannesburg office or out in the field; it's mostly onsite.
Advice to Management: Management really needs to look at staffing levels and expectations for field teams. Burnout is real, and it affects morale and retention. Give employees more options for actual downtime.

Pros: You get exposure to a truly global operation, which is cool for anyone new to the supply chain field. There's some decent initial training if you're joining as a junior Supply Chain Analyst, teaching you the ropes of the diamond mining business.
Cons: Internal career growth for mid-level supply chain roles is pretty slow, honestly. It's tough to see clear promotion paths, and sometimes you feel like you have to leave to actually move up in your career. Yearly performance reviews don't always translate into actual advancement opportunities.
Advice to Management: Management needs to create clearer, more transparent progression paths, especially for mid-level supply chain roles. It's tough to see where you're going next without more guidance.
