Decent Flexibility for Technical Roles
Pros: I've found some decent flexibility as an Applications Engineer here. The Fort Wayne office has a pretty good hybrid model, letting us WFH a couple days a week if projects allow. It's helpful for balancing life outside work in the industrial applications sector.
Cons: It's not perfect though. Core hours are pretty strict, so spontaneous changes can be tough. For some sealing solutions projects, you're always onsite, limiting true WFH options. Managers sometimes push back on adjusting schedules, even for valid reasons.
Advice to Management: Try to empower managers to offer more flexible scheduling without so much red tape. Understand that a "hybrid model" isn't a one-size-fits-all for every technical role. Consider more true remote options for tasks that don't require an onsite presence.

Work-life balance is decent for engineers
Pros: The core hours are mostly respected, which is good. For engineering roles, you usually get your 40 hour weeks done without too much weekend work. The teams are solid, and you learn a lot about industrial components and sealing solutions.
Cons: Sometimes there are big project pushes where you can't avoid staying late. There's not much work flexibility; it's mostly an onsite role. Vacation approval can be a bit slow at times too, which is a bummer.
Advice to Management: Try to improve the process for approving time off. More transparency on project timelines would also help reduce last-minute crunch.

Stable, but slow-paced for engineers
Pros: Job security is a real strong suit here, especially as a Manufacturing Engineer. It's a global manufacturer of industrial sealing solutions, so there's steady demand. You won't often worry about sudden layoffs, which is a big plus.
Cons: Career advancement isn't super fast for technical roles in the Fort Wayne, Indiana plant. The corporate environment can feel a bit stagnant at times. Innovation moves slowly, which can be frustrating.
Advice to Management: Try to speed up innovation. Give employees more chances for internal promotion and new challenges within the industrial sealing solutions space.
