Solid Foundation for a Data Career
Pros: Working as a Junior Data Analyst, I've found a very supportive team. Colleagues are always willing to help, making it easy to learn and grow in data analytics. There are consistent opportunities for skill development and engaging projects. It feels like a stable environment, which is great for building a career in tech.
Cons: The promotion process can sometimes feel a bit slow, and clarity on advancement paths could be improved. Communication from upper leadership on future strategy could also be more consistent.
Advice to Management: Focus on making career progression paths clearer for employees and enhancing communication about company-wide strategic initiatives.

Hybrid model helps, but still long days
Pros: The hybrid work model is a huge plus; we get 3 days in the Seattle office and 2 WFH days. This flexibility really helps manage personal appointments and avoid the daily commute grind. For a big tech company, it's pretty solid in terms of options.
Cons: Workload for engineering roles can get intense. You'll often find yourself putting in more than 40 hours a week to meet tight project deadlines in software development. It's tough to consistently achieve a great work-life balance here.
Advice to Management: Try to better manage project scope and realistic timelines. It would help a lot with employee burnout if the expectations around hours were more consistent.

Work-Life is Okay for a Big Company
Pros: The hybrid model is a lifesaver. Being able to work from home a few days a week really helps cut down on the commute in Austin, TX. Teams are generally good about not scheduling meetings too late, which is nice for personal evenings.
Cons: There are definitely periods of crunch, especially around release cycles. Sometimes you feel pressure from middle management to overcommit, and it can be tough to say no without feeling like you're falling behind. It's a typical corporate environment.
Advice to Management: Encourage managers to respect boundaries during crunch times. Really emphasize that 40-hour weeks should be the norm, even for demanding software engineering roles. Empower employees to push back without fear.
