Steady job, but slow career progression
Pros: Working as a Software Engineer, the job security here is really solid, especially in the cybersecurity industry. We're a big tech company, so things are stable. The remote work setup is great for flexibility, which I appreciate a lot.
Cons: Career growth, though, can be a real struggle for engineers. There aren't many clear promotion paths, and it feels like you're stuck sometimes. It's hard to move up without a lot of self-advocacy and pushing.
Advice to Management: Management should really build out clearer career development plans. Give Software Engineer roles more pathways for promotions and skill growth. Invest in official mentorship programs too.

Pay is decent, but benefits are just okay
Pros: As a Software Engineer for Gen, the base salary is really decent. For a big tech company in the cybersecurity industry, the compensation for these kinds of engineering roles is competitive.
Cons: But the benefits package isn't that impressive. The health insurance is just okay, and there aren't many exciting perks compared to other remote companies. It's a common complaint for IT roles here.
Advice to Management: Really look at enhancing the benefits package. Better health coverage and some more unique perks would make a huge difference for employee retention and satisfaction.

Decent Pay, But Benefits Need an Upgrade
Pros: The base salary for a Software Engineer here is pretty good, especially for the Bay Area market. I appreciate the solid 401k match they offer; it's a decent chunk. You also get some stock options, which is a nice long-term perk even if it vests slowly.
Cons: Honestly, the healthcare benefits aren't great, particularly compared to other big tech firms in the cybersecurity industry. Our paid time off (PTO) policy feels a bit stingy for the demands of the job. Annual raises sometimes don't even keep up with inflation.
Advice to Management: Please invest more in competitive healthcare plans and seriously review the PTO policy. It would go a long way in attracting and retaining top talent, especially when trying to compete with other big tech companies.
