Decent for a startup, but room to grow
Pros: The health insurance is actually pretty good for a startup, and they offer a 401k match which is a nice perk. As a Software Engineer working remote, I appreciate the flexibility it gives me.
Cons: Base salary is definitely below market average for experienced tech professionals, even in Austin. There aren't any significant bonus structures or stock options right now, which is a bummer.
Advice to Management: Re-evaluate the compensation bands to be more competitive with other tech companies, especially for senior software development roles. Consider adding stock options to attract and retain top talent.

Solid Work-Life Balance for a Tech Startup
Pros: Work-life balance for Software Engineer roles is generally solid. You can usually stick to 40 hour weeks outside of big deadlines. There's a decent hybrid model in the San Francisco office, which helps with flexibility.
Cons: Sometimes, during critical agile development sprints, the hours can really pile up. Management doesn't always set realistic timelines, so crunch time happens more often than it should. It can be tough to completely disconnect on those weeks.
Advice to Management: Try to build more buffer into project timelines. It would really help reduce the last-minute crunch periods for engineering teams. Better resource allocation could also prevent burnout.

Job Security is Okay, But It's a Startup
Pros: For a tech startup, the project pipeline is usually decent. As a Software Engineer, I felt pretty stable most of the time, especially when key features needed to ship for our software development goals.
Cons: It's still a startup, so things can change fast. There were a few rounds of layoffs for other teams in the San Francisco office, which definitely made people nervous about their roles. Job security here didn't feel like a top priority.
Advice to Management: Try to be more transparent about the company's financial health and future plans. It would really help reduce anxiety among employees during uncertain times.
