Great Engineering Firm with Good Flexibility
Pros: I appreciate the supportive team environment and the chance to work on challenging infrastructure projects. There's a strong emphasis on continuous learning, which is great for career development in the engineering industry. The hybrid work arrangement is fantastic, giving me the flexibility I need.
Cons: Sometimes the project approval processes can feel a bit slow, which is typical for a company of this size. Also, while there are many opportunities, promotions can take a while if you're not proactive.
Advice to Management: Focus on streamlining some of the internal approval workflows to help project delivery move a bit faster. Also, clearer pathways for career advancement could really boost morale.

Work-life Balance is Okay, Not Great
Pros: You get to work on some really cool infrastructure projects here. The hybrid work setup is decent, so I'm not stuck in the Dallas, TX office five days a week. There are good benefits for a large corporate firm, which is a plus.
Cons: As a Project Manager, the hours can get really long, especially with tight client deadlines. It's tough to truly disconnect when you're in project delivery roles. There's definitely constant pressure to always be 'on' and available.
Advice to Management: Try to better manage project scopes and client expectations to reduce the constant pressure on project teams. Burnout is a real concern for many.

Jacobs culture is okay, but can be slow.
Pros: I liked the people I worked with; my team in the Dallas office was solid. They really support professional development if you ask, which is good for your career. The hybrid model definitely helps with work-life balance too.
Cons: The company culture can be a bit bureaucratic. Getting decisions made on some large-scale infrastructure projects took ages. Sometimes, it felt like my contributions as a Civil Engineer weren't always recognized quickly.
Advice to Management: Try to speed up decision-making processes, especially for new initiatives. Empower teams more on local projects to foster better engagement.
