Okay pay for entry-level retail, benefits could improve
Pros: The hourly pay for a Retail Sales Associate in Boston, MA was actually decent for this industry. I also got a solid employee discount on office supplies, which was a nice perk. It's a stable job in the corporate retail space.
Cons: Raises are pretty slow, so it's tough to really grow your income here long-term. The health benefits weren't great, felt pretty basic compared to other big box stores. Don't expect much in terms of performance bonuses.
Advice to Management: Look into making the health benefits more competitive. Also, faster opportunities for raises or clear paths for income growth would really help retain good people, especially in key retail roles.

Decent Flexibility for Retail, But Has Limits
Pros: As a Retail Sales Associate, I found the schedule pretty flexible for a big corporate store. It was easy to swap shifts with coworkers if you needed to, which helped a lot with my college schedule. Part-time roles usually got reasonable hours.
Cons: Getting full-time hours was tough sometimes, even when I wanted them. The store manager often made last-minute schedule changes that could really mess up plans. It's an onsite job, so no WFH options, which is expected for retail but still a con.
Advice to Management: Try to give associates more consistent schedules and better notice for changes. It would help a lot with personal planning outside of work.

Solid for part-time, but it's retail
Pros: They're pretty good with scheduling if you communicate. As a Retail Sales Associate in the Boston, MA area, I could usually get my preferred shifts. The work flexibility for college students or parents is a major plus in the office supply retail industry.
Cons: It's still retail, so weekend shifts are a given. Sometimes you're understaffed, making things tough. Don't expect full remote work options, it's an onsite job mostly.
