BUILDING SERVICES AND SYSTEMS SECTION
Engineer (25260531)
The appointees will be members of the Building Services and Systems in Estates Office and responsible for leading a team of frontline staff and managing contractors to perform the operation and maintenance of building services and fitting-out projects on all campuses of the University.
Responsibilities:
- Take part in the day-to-day electrical and mechanical (E&M) plant operations including routine maintenance, emergency repair and resume the electrical system in case of system breakdown;
- Ensure the equipment, system and facilities are serviced and maintained according to sets of standards and specifications;
- Prepare for E&M routine and preventive maintenance plans and perform regular site supervision;
- Manage system breakdown to minimise the downtime and impact on operations;
- Oversee building services fitting-out works, upgrading and improvement works for enhancing the existing system performance, efficiency and sustainability;
- Liaise with end users, consultants and contractors in connection with building services installation works, fitting out projects and maintenance contracts;
- Be responsible for budget estimation and preparation of tender documents for fitting-out projects and improvement works including design drawings and technical specifications;
- Perform shift/emergency duties as necessary; and
- Assist in ad hoc tasks and undertake other duties as assigned by seniors.
Requirements:
- A recognised degree in Mechanical /Building Services/ Electrical Engineering or above with a minimum of six years’ relevant post-qualification experience in building services or a higher diploma with substantial years of relevant experience will also be considered;
- Familiar with statutory requirements and Codes of Practice;
- Possession of a valid Registered Electrical Worker Grade B or above;
- Excellent knowledge of building services engineering and associated work experience in design, installation, operation and maintenance;
- Experience in computer-aided design (AutoCAD), facilities management, operation and maintenance of Electrical systems is highly desired;
- Good communication, interpersonal and presentation to ensure the user requirements are properly captured; and
- Good command of both spoken and written English and Chinese.
Shortlisted candidates will be invited to sit for a written test.
The initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract of two years. Re-appointment thereafter is subject to mutual agreement and availability of funding.
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
