About Us
The InnoHK Hong Kong Center for Construction Robotics (HKCRC) is a world-leading innovation platform dedicated to advancing smart construction. Established in 2020 under the Hong Kong SAR government's InnoHK initiative, HKCRC is a collaboration between the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) and the University of California, Berkeley.
Led by Professor Li Zexiang from HKUST, HKCRC brings together a team of top global researchers and industry experts, focusing on three core domains: Construction Robotics, Smart Machinery, and Smart Operations and Maintenance. HKCRC delivers breakthrough technologies that redefine productivity, safety, and sustainability, creating real-world impact across the construction ecosystem
Position Overview
This internship involves
full participation as an intern in HKCRC's
Innovation Mini-Camp. Over the one-month period, you will immerse yourself in the innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem of smart construction and robotics, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams and experiencing the full journey from industry research to product definition.
Key Responsibilities
- Actively participate in all Mini-Camp activities, including workshops, site visits, and team collaborations
- Conduct research and project work in construction robotics/smart construction under mentor guidance
- Engage in industry research and pain-point analysis; assist teams in product definition and solution design
- Support project pitch preparation and result presentation
- Complete other camp-related tasks as assigned by supervisors
Qualifications
Education:
- Current undergraduate or postgraduate student at a Hong Kong university (Year 3, Year 4, or (incoming) Master's Year 1/2 preferred)
Preferred Majors (any Of The Following)
- Robotics, Automation, Mechanical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, AI, Software Engineering, or related hard-tech disciplines
- Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related construction fields
- Industrial Design, Product Design, or related fields
Skills & Attributes
- Strong interest in hard-tech entrepreneurship, smart construction, and robotics
- Collaborative mindset with proactive thinking and fast learning ability
- Experience in robotics competitions (e.g., RM, RC) is a plus
- Good communication skills in both English and Chinese
