What We Need
Background
We are hosting the 16th International Conference on Developmental Coordination Disorder at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Hong Kong between 24-26 July 2026. This is the main international conference focusing on Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD) and this is the first time it will be held in Asia. We would like to take advantage of the experts visiting HK to grow awareness in the community about DCD through publicising the conference.
What We Have
We have had some press exposure before that we could approach editors, but we are limited on resources and help. We would rely alot on our volunteer to help and guide us.
Why this is important
1 in 10 children in HK have DCD, but few have heard about this condition. One of the goals of The DCD Foundation is to raise awareness so that the community is more aware of symptoms and treatment and can seek help for themselves and each other. By using the conference as a springboard for media, we hope to reach more people in the community to hear about this condition. As part of the conference, we will also be hosting a professional workshop for doctors, nurses, social workers, therapists and teachers to learn more about diagnosis, treatment and management. Publicising the conference also helps us reach these professionals gives them a practical skills toolkit to help these children.

What We Do
The DCD Foundation was founded to promote awareness of Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD) in the Hong Kong community and to provide support to those who have been diagnosed. Our work focuses on research with universities, public seminars, training events, community events and other activities.
On behalf of The DCD Foundation, this volunteer opportunity is shared by Time Auction, a charity that incentivises volunteering with unique learning opportunities from the world’s inspiring leaders.
