Job Description
The Analytical Chemistry Laboratory Intern will support the laboratory team in providing analytical testing services. The intern will gain hands-on experience in a STEM-focused environment, learning essential laboratory skills, analytical techniques, and quality assurance practices. This position is ideal for students pursuing studies in chemistry, chemical engineering, or related STEM fields.
Responsibilities
Follows defined standard operating procedures and datasheets with necessary supervision/support. Perform routine chemical tests and support laboratory management
- Analytical Testing: Perform routine and advanced analytical chemistry tests on a variety of sample types, following standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safety protocols.
- Sample Preparation: Prepare samples for analysis, including weighing, acid digestion, solvent extraction, and other preparatory techniques.
- Result Review: Review raw data and analytical results for accuracy and completeness.
- Report Review: Assist with preparing and reviewing test reports to ensure clarity, accuracy, and compliance with laboratory standards.
- Instrument Calibration: Participate in the calibration, maintenance, and basic troubleshooting of laboratory instruments to ensure reliable test results.
- Test Assignment: Organize and prioritize test assignments under the supervision of senior laboratory staff.
- Quality & Compliance: Adhere to laboratory quality control procedures, documentation practices, and regulatory requirements.
- STEM Engagement: Participate in STEM-related projects, problem-solving activities, and continuous improvement initiatives within the laboratory.
Qualifications
- Actively enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Chemistry or related disciplines including Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, Organic/Inorganic Chemistry, but not limited to these disciplines only.
- Effective communication skills, good command of English and Chinese.
- Desire to work in a team-oriented environment.
- Ability to use Microsoft Office suite is a must.
