Okay Place, But Job Security Can Be Tricky

Working at Activate Interactive had its ups and downs. If you're looking for a digital marketing agency experience in Singapore, it's decent. Just be aware that job security for web development can feel a bit uncertain due to how much they rely on client projects.


Pros

I liked that as a Web Developer, there was always new work. It's a mid-sized agency, so you get to touch different client projects. The learning curve was solid for someone new to the digital marketing industry.


Cons

The biggest issue for engineering roles is job security. When big client projects end or if there's a dip in new business, you definitely feel the pressure. It's tough when your role depends so much on the next big win, especially in the Singapore office.


Advice to Management

To improve job security, maybe explore more retainer-based clients or build out internal products. This would create a more stable environment for your tech teams, especially for web developers.

Okay Place, But Career Growth is Limited
Pros: You get to work on some cool interactive media projects. I learned a lot about new tech stacks from my peers. The team culture in the San Francisco office is pretty supportive, which is nice.
Cons: As a Software Engineer, the career path isn't clear at all. There aren't many opportunities for upward mobility or promotions. I found it tough to get formal training or development budget too.

Okay for junior UX, culture needs work
Pros: I enjoyed the creative challenges. As a UX Designer, I got to work on some cool digital projects. People on my immediate team were supportive, which helped with learning new design tools.
Cons: The company culture feels a bit cliquey sometimes. Communication from upper management isn't always clear, especially about project timelines. It made collaboration tough for new hires.
Advice to Management: Focus on clearer cross-team communication. Help integrate new hires better into the overall company culture. For interactive roles, strong internal communication is key.
