Startup life at Hypernet, mixed bag

This place is a learning ground, especially if you're new to the blockchain space. You'll get hands-on experience as a Software Engineer, but don't expect a clear career path to be laid out for you.

Pros

I learned a ton about new tech stacks and cutting-edge blockchain development. As a Software Engineer, I got to contribute to core features quickly, which was great for skill development. The informal environment encourages you to take initiative.

Cons

Career progression isn't well-defined at this big tech startup. There's no clear path for promotions or senior technical roles, so you kind of have to figure it out yourself. It felt like growth was often more about self-advocacy than a structured system, especially in the San Francisco office.

Advice to Management

Formalize career progression paths, especially for senior technical roles. Implement a structured mentorship program.

Culture depends on your team here
Pros: My immediate team was awesome, very collaborative and supportive. The hybrid work model is a big plus for a flexible schedule. It's a decent place for tech industry experience.
Cons: Upper management feels pretty disconnected from daily operations. There's a lot of siloed work, which makes cross-functional projects tough. The overall company culture could use some work.
Advice to Management: Focus on improving communication and breaking down those team silos. Get leadership more involved with employees beyond just high-level updates. It'll boost morale for everyone.
