Pay is okay, benefits need work

It's a pretty standard custom software development firm. Decent people here. But compensation could be better, especially for senior roles in the Ho Chi Minh City office. Don't expect big pay jumps as a Software Developer.

Pros

The base salary for junior to mid-level Software Developers is actually decent for the local market in Ho Chi Minh City. You get a 13th-month salary, which is standard but nice. There are some small team perks too.

Cons

However, the pay doesn't really scale well for senior roles; it's tough to get significant raises even with good performance in custom software development projects. Benefits like health insurance aren't as comprehensive as what you'd see at larger international firms. Can be hard to negotiate a better package.

Advice to Management

Really look into improving compensation for experienced Software Developers and enhancing the overall benefits package to be more competitive, especially for those working on complex custom software development projects. It'll help retain talent.

Great Place for Software Development Professionals to Grow
Pros: As a Software Engineer, I appreciate the collaborative spirit and learning opportunities in software development. My colleagues are supportive, and the leadership team generally provides good direction. It's a stable environment for tech professionals.
Cons: Some internal approval processes can be a bit slow, impacting project timelines. Cross-departmental communication could also use some improvement for better efficiency.
Advice to Management: Streamline approval workflows and work on enhancing cross-functional communication to improve project delivery speed and overall team cohesion.

Career Growth Needs a Boost
Pros: The team here in the Ho Chi Minh City office is pretty solid. I've learned a lot about different tech stacks on various client projects. We do use modern agile development practices which is good experience.
Cons: For a Software Engineer, there aren't many clear paths to promotion. It's hard to see how to advance your career in this corporate software development environment. I don't feel much mentorship for professional growth.
Advice to Management: Create clearer career ladders for tech roles. Invest more in mentorship programs to help us grow into senior positions and provide opportunities for skill development beyond project work.

Okay Culture for Software Development Teams
Pros: I really liked my immediate team; we had solid camaraderie. For software development projects, working onsite in the Ho Chi Minh City office meant good collaboration. We often celebrated small wins together, which was nice.
Cons: The larger company culture feels a bit detached from top management. There isn't always a clear vision communicated down to developers. It's a mid-sized company, but sometimes it feels like leadership is too far removed from daily operations. Feedback loops could be way better.
Advice to Management: Try to be more present and transparent with the software development teams. Improve communication channels and really listen to ground-level feedback. A more inclusive culture would benefit everyone.
