Leadership at Micron Needs More Consistency
Working at Micron Technology in Boise as a Process Engineer was okay. Some parts were really good, like the technical talent around, especially in the semiconductor industry. But the leadership really holds it back sometimes. It's a big tech company with decent pay but lots of room to improve on how managers lead.
Some of the senior technical leaders are super smart, especially within the memory and storage sector. You can learn a lot if you're a new Process Engineer in the Boise, Idaho office. It's a stable, big tech company for the most part.
Middle management can be a real mixed bag; some leaders seem to lack strategic vision. It often feels like decisions are made without fully understanding the impact on the ground for onsite teams. There's not enough mentorship from leadership for career growth.
Focus on developing consistent leadership skills across all levels, not just technical expertise. Encourage more mentorship programs and clearer paths for career progression for engineers.
