Monitoring and controlling critical infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance, energy efficiency, and 24/7 operational reliability.
Responsibilities:
- Environmental Control: Manages precise temperature and humidity levels throughout server rooms, cold aisles, and hot aisles. Controls HVAC systems, chillers, air handlers, and cooling distribution to maintain optimal operating conditions for IT equipment. Monitors airflow patterns and adjusts cooling strategies based on real-time heat loads.
- Power Management: Monitors electrical distribution from utility feeds through UPS systems, generators, and power distribution units (PDUs). Tracks power consumption, load balancing, and power usage effectiveness (PUE). Manages automatic transfer switches and generator start sequences during power events.
- Fire and Safety Systems: Integrates fire detection, suppression systems, and emergency response protocols. Manages pre-action sprinkler systems, gas suppression zones, and smoke detection throughout the facility. Coordinates with security systems for access control and emergency evacuation procedures.
- Monitoring and Alarming: Provides real-time monitoring of thousands of data points including temperature sensors, power meters, flow rates, and equipment status. Generates automated alerts for threshold violations, equipment failures, or environmental deviations. Maintains historical data for trend analysis and predictive maintenance.
- Energy Optimization: Implements intelligent control strategies for cooling optimization, free cooling utilization, and load management. Analyzes operational data to identify efficiency opportunities and reduce operational costs while maintaining service level agreements.
Qualifications :
- Minimum D3 in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, controls engineering, or related technical field.
- Experience with server hardware, networking equipment, and critical facility systems.
- Minimum 3-5 years’ experience with building automation systems in critical facilities. Data center or mission-critical environment experience strongly preferred.
