Role Overview:
We are hiring for one of our clients, seeking a Building Code Compliance Expert to work on a contractual basis. This role involves reviewing and verifying building plans, documentation, and construction practices against international, national, and local building codes and standards. The work ensures regulatory adherence for projects across multiple jurisdictions, reducing legal and financial risks for stakeholders. Precision in code interpretation and clear communication of compliance gaps are critical to project success.
Key Responsibilities:
• Review architectural drawings, structural calculations, and specifications for compliance with building codes including IBC, NEC, and local amendments.
• Conduct site visits to verify on-site construction practices align with approved plans and code requirements.
• Issue formal compliance reports detailing discrepancies, required corrections, and timelines for resolution.
• Collaborate with design teams, contractors, and inspectors to resolve code-related issues during pre-construction and construction phases.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of evolving building codes and regulatory changes affecting residential, commercial, and industrial projects.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
• Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in building code compliance, inspection, or related engineering roles.
• Proficient with building codes such as International Building Code (IBC), National Electrical Code (NEC), and local jurisdictional requirements.
• Strong technical reading comprehension to interpret construction documents, blueprints, and engineering drawings.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills to prepare clear compliance reports and provide actionable feedback to stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently on multiple projects with tight deadlines while maintaining accuracy and regulatory rigor.
