Position Type: Permanent Full Time (9 day fortnight, 38 hours/week)
Salary Range: Base Salary $48.93 per hour + super, plus overtime and penalty rates dependent on work performed. Additional entitlements and overtime do not form part of the advertised base salary.

As a Fitter with Council, you’ll help keep our water and wastewater assets operating safely and reliably for the Townsville community. You’ll carry out maintenance and capital works across critical infrastructure by diagnosing issues, repairing equipment, and making sure work is completed to a high standard, in line with safety requirements, procedures and planned schedules. You’ll also provide trade guidance to apprentices and other workers and participate in an on-call roster as required, to resolve out of hours operational issues or emergency works including disaster management.

Qualifications And Experience
- Fitter and Turner qualification (or equivalent) with relevant experience and ability to perform high quality mechanical work.
- “C” class driver’s licence with the ability to obtain an “MR” class driver’s licence.
- Current Construction Industry White Card (30215 QLD).
- Ability to interpret plans and specifications, estimate and procure materials, and contribute to the development of work plans.
- Intermediate computer skills with ability to use business management system software.
- Sound level of technical problem-solving, customer service and communication skills including report writing skills.
- Licence to perform High Risk Work (Forklift, EWP, Working at Heights, Dogman) desirable.
