Are you an Azure infrastructure specialist who enjoys building modern cloud environments rather than simply maintaining them?
We're partnering with a local council that is embarking on a significant uplift of its cloud infrastructure. This is a hands-on technical role where you'll play a key part in modernising Azure, driving Infrastructure as Code practices, optimising Azure DevOps, and leading a major VMware-to-Azure migration.
You'll work closely with an experienced Infrastructure & Cloud Lead, helping shape best practice cloud engineering while delivering scalable, secure and highly available solutions.
This is a full-time permanent position based in Melbourne's northern suburbs with hybrid working.
What you'll be doing - Lead and support the migration of on-prem VMware environments into Microsoft Azure
- Review, optimise and enhance the existing Azure DevOps environment to improve deployment pipelines and operational efficiency
- Design, build and maintain Azure infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (Bicep)
- Develop secure, scalable and resilient cloud solutions across compute, storage, networking and identity
- Drive automation and DevOps best practices across the infrastructure environment
- Work with technical stakeholders to design cloud solutions that are fit for purpose and future-ready
- Contribute to cloud governance, security, monitoring and continuous improvement initiatives
What we're looking for You'll be a confident Azure infrastructure engineer with strong cloud architecture capability and experience delivering enterprise cloud projects.
You'll ideally bring:
- Strong Azure Infrastructure and Cloud Engineering experience
- Azure Administration expertise (AZ-104 certification essential)
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code using Bicep
- Azure DevOps experience, including reviewing and improving CI/CD pipelines
- Experience delivering infrastructure transformation or cloud migration projects
- VMware migration experience (highly regarded)
- Strong understanding of Azure networking, security, identity and governance
- Excellent stakeholder engagement skills and the confidence to provide technical recommendations and challenge existing approaches where appropriate
Why apply? This is an opportunity to make a genuine impact on a large-scale cloud transformation rather than stepping into a purely operational support role. You'll help shape cloud engineering standards, modernise infrastructure through automation, and work on enterprise projects using current Microsoft technologies.
If you're passionate about Azure, Infrastructure as Code and cloud transformation, and enjoy solving complex technical challenge, then we'd love to hear from you.
