Job Description
The Telecoms Engineer will be responsible for the supporting telecommunications design as part of a team, monitoring implementation, and site coordination of telecommunications infrastructure for a large-scale data centre development/s. This role ensures that all telecom systems meet project specifications, industry standards, and client requirements while supporting seamless transition to operations. A key part of the role will be to coordinate with the internationally based Telecoms Team.
Responsibilities
Main Responsibilities:
- Conduct site inspections to verify adherence of installation of telecom infrastructure including structured cabling, fibre optic links, patch panels, and racks to design and quality standards.
- Review Shop Drawings submissions for accuracy and compliance.
- Review As-Built Drawings submissions for accuracy and compliance.
- Ensure compliance with relevant standards (TIA/EIA, ISO/IEC, BICSI) and local regulations.
- Coordinate with electrical, mechanical, and IT design teams to ensure integrated solutions.
- Review of testing and commissioning of telecom systems (OTDR, power meter, continuity tests) data.
- Liaise with contractors, vendors, and stakeholders to resolve technical issues promptly.
- Liaise with international design teams to resolve technical issues promptly.
- Monitor progress and report on risks, delays, and mitigation strategies.
- Ensure health, safety, and environmental compliance during site activities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum 7 years’ experience in telecom design and site delivery, preferably in data centre or mission-critical environments .
