Purpose of the Job
The Power Supply & Traction Systems Expert acts as the technical authority for the design, integration, verification and delivery of railway power supply and traction electrification systems.
He/She is responsible for leading and validating power supply system design, simulations, technical specifications and supplier deliverables for complex railway, metro, LRT or monorail projects.
The Expert provides high‑level technical leadership, supports key design decisions, ensures compliance with contract requirements and international standards, and coordinates closely with system integration, testing & commissioning and external stakeholders.

Organisational Reporting
Reports operationally to the Project Engineering Manager or System Engineering Manager and acts as technical reference for Power Supply and Traction Electrification within the project.
Network & Links
- Strong interface with Project Management, System Integration, T&C, RAMS, EMC, and Configuration teams
- Direct coordination with Client, Engineer, Utilities, Independent Safety Assessor and Regulatory Authorities
- Technical leadership towards Suppliers, EPC contractors and Design Consultants
Mission
Key Responsibilities
- Act as Lead Expert for Power Supply & Traction Electrification systems, including HV/MV networks, AC/DC substations, traction power (750V / 1500V DC), third rail or OCS systems and associated LV systems
- Define and validate power supply architecture, system configuration, capacity sizing and redundancy philosophy
- Lead and validate design studies, calculation notes and simulations (load flow, short‑circuit, harmonic, stray current, EMC/EMI, regenerative braking, energy recovery)
- Supervise and technically approve the production of:
- Single line diagrams
- Functional and technical specifications
- BOQs and tender documentation
- Design reports and technical notes
- Review, audit and approve suppliers’ and contractors’ designs, calculations, drawings and technical submissions
- Ensure full compliance with Contract Specifications, International Standards (IEC, EN, IEEE) and local regulations
- Lead technical interfaces and system integration with rolling stock, signalling, communications, SCADA, track, civil and utilities
- Provide expert support during procurement, tender evaluation and technical negotiations
- Support and oversee Testing & Commissioning strategies, including FAT, SAT, SIT, EMC tests and system integration tests
- Contribute to as‑built documentation, system handover and operational readiness
- Provide expert input for risk analysis, deviation management, RFIs and technical clarifications
- Support Project Management in programme optimisation, claims (EOT/VO), cost and risk mitigation when required
- Act as mentor and technical reference for engineering teams and junior designers
