SKF was founded in 1907 and rapidly grew to become a global company. Sven Wingquist, inventor of the double-row self-aligning ball bearing, was one of the founding members and the first Managing Director.
As early as the 1920s, the company was well-established in all five continents. SKF is present in nearly all industries, including cars and light trucks, marine, aerospace, renewable energy, railway, metal, machine tool,
medical and food and beverage.
The SKF Group is a leading global supplier of bearings, seals, mechatronics, lubrication systems, and services which include technical support, maintenance and reliability services, engineering consulting and training. The Group’s fundamental strength is the ability to continuously develop new technologies and use them to create products that offer competitive advantages to its customers. SKF achieved this by combining hands-on experience in over 40 industries with its knowledge across the SKF technology areas.
SKF presence in Malaysia started off with the incorporation of SKF Malaysia Sdn. Bhd, a sales and service company in 1973 located in Kuala Lumpur.
Subsequently in 1991, SKF Bearing Industries (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd., a manufacturing plant was set up in Nilai, Negeri Sembilan. Since then, both business units have grown exponentially with more than 600 employees in
both locations. The manufacturing facility in Nilai is one of SKF’s most modern and technologically advanced manufacturing plant. In line with SKF global quality standards, all manufacturing and quality control processes
are fully automated and equipped with state-of-the-art machinery for producing the latest generation of bearings.
The sales and service establishment in Kuala Lumpur has been successfully meeting market demands of the industrial and automotive segments throughout Malaysia via the establishment of a strong network of distributors and dealers; besides providing application and technical services to end-users and OEM customers directly.
