Role Purpose
The Senior webMethods Integration Developer will be a hands-on technical expert responsible for implementing, maintaining, and supporting integration solutions built on the IBM webMethods platform. The role requires strong development capabilities across core webMethods components, the ability to work autonomously within a team, and engaging constructively with the Integration Architect to challenge and validate technical choices. The candidate will play a key role in an upcoming platform upgrade (10.5 → 12.1) and will contribute to the quality, reliability, and documentation of the integration landscape.
Key Responsibilities
Integration Development
- Design and develop integration flows using webMethods Integration Server (IS), Trading Networks (TN), Universal Messaging (UM), MFT, and BPMS.
- Implement B2B integration scenarios, including EDI/AS2 partner onboarding and transaction processing via Trading Networks.
- Build, test, and deploy services following established integration standards and best practices.
- Participate in code and design reviews, ensuring quality and compliance with technical guidelines.
- Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to translate functional requirements into reliable technical solutions.
Platform Upgrade & Installation
- Actively contribute to the webMethods platform upgrade from version 10.5 to 12.1.
- Identify potential migration risks, regression issues, and compatibility gaps based on experience with similar upgrade projects.
- Support environment setup, platform installation, and configuration activities.
Platform Operations & Support
- Act as a technical reference for the webMethods platform.
- Monitor integration flows, investigate incidents, and implement fixes in a timely manner.
- Assess and document operational readiness including deployment procedures, monitoring setup, and rollback plans.
Documentation & Standards
- Produce and maintain technical documentation: solution designs, flow diagrams, runbooks, and release notes.
- Contribute to defining and maintaining integration standards and reusable patterns.
Key Requirements
- 10+ years of hands-on experience with the webMethods platform in a development capacity.
- Strong proficiency in Integration Server (IS): flow services, Java services, adapters, error handling.
- Solid experience with Trading Networks (TN): partner profiles, document types, processing rules, B2B transactions.
- Solid experience with MFT.
- Good knowledge of Universal Messaging (UM): messaging, channels, queues, clustering.
- Experience with BPMS is a strong plus.
- Proven experience in at least one webMethods upgrade project.
- Experience with platform installation and environment configuration.
- Proficient in writing technical documentation and creating integration/flow diagrams.
- Ability to design and execute functional, performance, and stability tests.
- Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools within the webMethods ecosystem.
Nice to Have
- Exposure to SAP Integration Suite or other middleware platforms.
- Knowledge of CI/CD Pipelines.
- Experience working in a GCC or offshore delivery model.
