Champion Data has an exciting opportunity for an Junior Broadcast Developer to join our team!
The Junior Broadcast Developer supports the development and maintenance of Champion Data’s broadcast and sports data technology platforms. Working under the guidance of senior engineers, this role contributes to the development of software solutions that power broadcast graphics, data systems, and analytics products used by sporting leagues and broadcasters.
The role focuses on developing technical capability, learning engineering best practices, and contributing to the delivery of reliable, high-quality software products.
Key Responsibilities
Software Development
- Assist in the development, testing, and maintenance of software applications.
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following team development standards.
- Contribute to the implementation of new features, enhancements, and bug fixes.
- Participate in code reviews and incorporate feedback from senior developers.
- Assist with the configuration and deployment of applications.
Collaboration & Team Support
- Work closely with developers, product owners, and project managers to deliver software solutions.
- Support the translation of business requirements into working technical solutions.
- Communicate progress, issues, and blockers with the development team.
- Participate in team meetings, sprint planning, and development discussions.
Quality & Testing
- Assist in testing software to ensure functionality, performance, and reliability.
- Help identify and resolve bugs and software issues.
- Follow established coding standards, documentation practices, and development workflows.
- Contribute to maintaining quality across Champion Data software systems.
Learning & Development
- Develop knowledge of Champion Data systems, tools, and development frameworks.
- Build skills in programming, debugging, testing, and software design.
- Learn and apply modern development practices such as version control, automated testing, and CI/CD.
- Seek guidance and feedback from senior developers and mentors.
Product Contribution & Innovation
- Contribute ideas for improving software solutions and development processes.
- Support innovation within Champion Data’s broadcast and sports data products.
- Assist with research into new technologies and development approaches where appropriate.
Technical Support
- Assist with diagnosing and resolving technical issues affecting Champion Data applications.
- Provide operational support for internal and external software systems where required.
- Support troubleshooting of production or broadcast-related systems under guidance.
About You
- Basic knowledge of software development principles and programming concepts.
- Understanding of object-oriented programming.
- Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git).
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Good communication and teamwork abilities.
- Experience with C# / .NET development.
- Familiarity with desktop applications (WPF), APIs, or data-driven systems.
- Exposure to real-time data systems or broadcast technology.
- Interest in sports data, broadcast graphics, or live event technology.
