About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Android Engineer to join our dynamic software development team in Toronto, Canada. In this role, you will lead the technical design, architecture, and development of innovative Android applications that enhance our customer experience. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, and other engineers, to develop scalable and robust mobile solutions. Your expertise will be instrumental in driving the adoption of best practices, mentoring junior team members, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality software products. This position offers an exciting opportunity to influence the future of mobile banking technology and to contribute to products that help Canadians take control of their credit and financial health.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in Android development with a minimum of 6 years of hands-on experience using Java and Kotlin. A solid understanding of application and data architecture is essential, along with experience working with modern development tools and frameworks such as RxJava, Coroutines, Dagger, Espresso, JUnit, and Jenkins. A bachelor’s, master’s, or diploma in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related fields is required. Candidates should demonstrate experience mentoring junior and intermediate developers and guiding technical and business stakeholders. Preferred qualifications include over 8 years of full software development lifecycle experience, familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS, and experience working within agile development environments.

Responsibilities

  • Own the technical design, architecture, and development of multi-platform, cross-functional applications that serve our customers effectively.
  • Collaborate with agile teams throughout the entire Software Development Life Cycle, from planning to deployment and support.
  • Enhance software engineering practices by designing, developing, testing, and implementing innovative solutions using a variety of development tools and technologies.
  • Stay updated on evolving technological trends and assess their impact on our domain, ensuring our applications leverage the latest advancements.
  • Mentor and guide junior, intermediate, and senior mobile engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
