The Air Force Civilian Service (AFCS) is looking for a Full-Time Electronics Engineer, (GS-0855-13) to work as a European Response Initiative (ERI) Engineer/Planner at HQ USAFE-AFAFRICA Communication Directorate (A6CN), Ramstein Air Base (AB), Germany.

Salary range: $90,925 - $118,204 based on experience (does not include living quarters and post allowances which will be determined based on eligibility).

Relocation expenses as authorized in the Joint Travel Regulation (JTR).

Depending on the type of position you are selected for, you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period OR 2-year trial period.

Qualifications/Requirements

In this position, you will serve as a senior professional electronics engineer responsible for modification, installation, assembly, integration, acquisition, and assurance of computer software/hardware and embedded firmware products for Main Operating Base (MOB) Support Communication Engineer/Planner for executing United States Air Forces in Europe - Air Forces Africa (USAFE-AFAFRICA) Communications Directorate’s European Response Initiative (ERI) projects and requirements associated with MOB Resiliency to include Satellite Communications (SATCOM) and High Frequency (HF) capabilities and Cyber Operations (Cyber Ops) (Defensive Cyber Operations (DCO) and Offensive Cyber Operations (OCO)). Develops technical and engineering solutions for Concept Plan (CONPLAN) MOB build up requirements. Professional engineering and scientific work to ensure USAFE CONPLAN MOBS can support additional theater capacity, redundancy and operations in a contested environments. Incumbent is considered a technical expert for the electronics engineering assignments concerning installation, operations, and maintenance activities related to the proper technical operation and functioning of systems, facilities, and equipment. Provides technical leadership in planning, analyzing, evaluating, developing, equipping, integrating, and managing efforts involved in the engineering process.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a “Top Secret” security clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information

Education

Degree: engineering or engineering technology that is accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET).

Additional Requirements & Skills

  • Must be able to demonstrate the basic knowledge required for Defense Cyber Workforce Framework (DCWF) within 9 months of assignment.
  • Professional knowledge of advanced concepts, principles, and practices of electronics engineering so as to be able to serve as an expert to resolve difficult problems and issues, and to plan, design, monitor, and evaluate complex electronics engineering program and projects.
  • Ability to apply new technologies to problems not resolvable through conventional methods.
  • Ability to provide effective oral and written communication.
  • Ability to organize and lead study teams.
  • Knowledge of policies, programs, organizations, functions, resources, and legislation affecting the program(s) and the organizations studied or served, and related customers, functions, resources, and users.
  • Ability to research, analyze, plan, and execute projects and/or studies within established financial and time constraints.
  • Knowledge of networking and/or telecommunications area of information technology to serve as a technical authority covering a wide range of technology and applications.
  • Ability to apply knowledge of the objectives, overall design, and operating characteristics of related network hardware and software.
