Decent pay for crypto, but benefits are light

As a Blockchain Developer, I'd say the pay at Tether.io is pretty solid for the crypto industry, especially for remote roles. But don't expect big tech level benefits. It's a startup vibe, so things are still a bit lean.

Pros

Base salary for a Blockchain Developer is actually pretty competitive. They do pay on time, which is good in the cryptocurrency space. For a fully remote setup, it's a decent package.

Cons

The benefits package isn't great, though. Health insurance options aren't as comprehensive as I've seen elsewhere. There's no matching 401k or stock options, which is tough compared to other fintech companies.

Advice to Management

Management should really look into improving the benefits package. Better health plans and maybe some kind of retirement matching would help attract and keep top web3 talent.

Career growth isn't smooth, but you learn.
Pros: I picked up real skills in blockchain development. The projects are cutting-edge, especially with stablecoins. It's a fast-paced environment, good for learning on the fly. As a Software Engineer, you get hands-on.
Cons: Formal career paths for remote employees aren't clear. You have to really push for promotions or new responsibilities. There isn't much mentorship for career progression, which is tough.
Advice to Management: Create clearer career paths and offer mentorship for engineers. Help employees see where they can grow within the stablecoin business.

Decent for a Crypto Company, but Be Ready for OT
Pros: Being remote from Lisbon offers a good bit of flexibility, which really helps my work-life balance. The team is pretty collaborative, so you don't always feel like you're fighting fires alone, even in the fast-paced digital assets industry.
Cons: As a Software Engineer here, expect to put in extra hours, especially during critical blockchain development cycles or market events. The "always on" mentality can be tough, making it hard to disconnect even when working remotely. This really impacts your personal time.
Advice to Management: Try to implement better project planning to reduce the number of urgent, last-minute emergencies for Software Engineer teams. This would greatly help improve work-life balance across the board.

Solid if You Can Handle Crypto Swings
Pros: As a Software Engineer, I appreciate that Tether.io has a really strong position in the blockchain industry. Despite the overall market volatility, the company itself feels pretty stable, which is a big plus for remote work. They've weathered a lot of storms.
Cons: Still, the crypto market just feels inherently risky sometimes. There's always that thought in the back of your mind about sudden downturns. Project priorities can shift fast, which can make things feel a bit less secure at times.
Advice to Management: Keep communicating openly about company strategy and market outlook. More transparent project roadmaps would also help ease concerns about job security for roles like mine.
