Solid pay for remote crypto support roles

Kraken is a solid place to work in the crypto space. Pay for remote roles is decent, but benefits could improve.

Pros

As a Customer Support Specialist, the base pay for remote work is pretty good, especially for a crypto exchange. You also get some equity exposure which is cool. It's a decent spot for breaking into the digital assets industry.

Cons

The health insurance options aren't the best, honestly, compared to other big tech places. And salary increases don't happen very often. There's not much clarity on how compensation advances.

Advice to Management

Look into improving the health benefits package for all employees. Also, make the compensation review process more transparent for career growth.

Good place for learning, but career growth is on you
Pros: I got to work on some really interesting blockchain infrastructure projects. There's a lot of challenging work if you're a Software Engineer here, which is great for skill development. Being a fully remote company offers fantastic work flexibility.
Cons: Career progression for engineering roles wasn't very clear, and there aren't many structured programs for growth. You pretty much have to figure out your own path. Sometimes it feels like there's not enough mentorship to help you advance.
Advice to Management: Establish clearer career paths and invest in more structured development programs for your engineers. This would really help people see where they're going.

Crypto Volatility Makes Job Security a Ride
Pros: The team is super smart, and you learn a ton about the **crypto exchange** world. Working **remote** is a huge perk for flexibility and managing personal life.
Cons: Job security is definitely a concern here, especially as a **Software Engineer** during market downturns. You feel the pressure from **crypto market** volatility, which can lead to sudden shifts in strategy or even layoffs.
Advice to Management: Try to offer more transparency about future plans during market downturns and provide clearer communication on job stability to help ease employee anxieties.

Okay for remote, but watch your hours
Pros: Being fully remote is a huge plus, especially for engineering roles. I appreciate the flexibility it offers when you can set your own schedule, working from home. The WFH setup is solid.
Cons: Work-life balance can be really tough here. As a Software Engineer, I often found myself working past 5 PM, and there's pressure to deliver on tight deadlines for crypto projects. It's not always a 40-hour week.
Advice to Management: Leadership should really focus on managing project scope better to reduce burnout across teams. More realistic deadlines would help a lot with employee well-being in this big tech startup environment.
