Pros: I really appreciate the work-life balance here as a Software Developer in the interactive entertainment industry. The team is super supportive, always ready to help out and share knowledge, which made it easy to learn new tech stacks. I've grown a lot here. It's a stable environment, which is great to have.
Cons: The career growth path can feel a bit slow sometimes, especially for promotions. Also, the approval processes for new features can occasionally be a bit drawn out, which can slow down progress on projects.
Advice to Management: Streamline the promotion process and try to speed up those approval workflows to keep project momentum high. Better communication on career progression would also be really helpful for junior developers.

Pros: My immediate team in the QA department was awesome and supportive. We had a pretty solid hybrid work model, which really helped with work-life balance. Benefits were decent for a mid-sized gaming company too, not big tech level but fine.
Cons: The company culture felt really siloed; there wasn't much cross-collaboration between departments like dev and QA. Leadership seemed a bit out of touch with the day-to-day realities of game development. It made pushing new ideas tough.
Advice to Management: Try to foster more cross-departmental collaboration, especially between game development and QA teams. Listen more to the folks on the ground doing the actual work. It would greatly improve morale and efficiency across the Los Angeles office.

Pros: You get some flexibility with remote work, which is nice for a Game Developer. Most of the time, project managers try to respect personal time outside of big deadlines. It's a mid-sized tech company, so things aren't completely chaotic usually.
Cons: The gaming industry still has its crunch periods, no surprise there. You'll definitely work extra hours during sprint cycles or before big releases. It's tough to truly disconnect when those high-pressure moments hit.
Advice to Management: Try to schedule more realistically. Prevent constant overtime from becoming the norm for development teams. Burnout is real.
