Solid if you're a core engineer
Working at Syntax was a mixed bag, but mostly positive. The job security is decent if you're in a core engineering role, but other departments might feel a bit shakier. The hybrid work model is a nice perk.
As a Software Engineer in the San Francisco office, the job security felt pretty decent. We've got consistent project flow, especially for core software development. It's a mid-sized tech company, so they're not doing crazy mass layoffs too often.
Layoffs do happen for non-core teams though, like during reorgs. It can feel a bit uncertain if your role isn't directly tied to revenue. The hybrid work model is good, but sometimes it feels like less critical roles are on the chopping block first.
Focus on clear communication regarding company direction and how various teams contribute to the bottom line. It would really help reduce anxiety about job security for everyone, not just core roles.
