Hybrid Model Has Its Pros and Cons
Work flexibility at ByteDance is a mixed bag, honestly. The hybrid model is there, but don't expect full remote options. It's typical for the social media industry, but could be better.
The hybrid model does give me a couple days a week to WFH from my place in Mountain View. It's nice to avoid the commute sometimes, especially as a Software Engineer. The in-office days help with team bonding.
But there's a pretty strict RTO policy, so you can't just work fully remote. For big tech, I expected a bit more choice. It can make planning personal stuff tough with mandatory onsite days.
Consider more flexibility for teams that prove productive remotely. A little more trust goes a long way for employee morale and work-life balance.
