Pretty Standard Tech Job, Less Flexibility
My time as a software engineer at ByteDance was a mixed bag. The work itself was engaging in the social media tech space, but the company culture doesn't really prioritize work flexibility. Being mostly onsite in the Mountain View office made it tough to manage personal life sometimes.
Working for ByteDance means you're on interesting global social media tech projects. The pay and benefits are solid, typical for a big tech company. You learn a lot, especially as a software engineer, working with smart people.
Work flexibility here isn't great; it's mostly onsite in the Mountain View office. Forget about remote work options, even a hybrid schedule is tough to swing. The hours can be long, so work-life balance suffers.
Consider offering more hybrid or remote work options. It would really help with employee morale and reduce burnout, especially for engineering roles.
