Hybrid work is okay, but could be better
PEAK6 has a hybrid model for its tech teams, but it feels more like an "in-office first" approach sometimes. It's not bad for a fintech company, but don't expect full remote.
The hybrid model means I'm not stuck in the office five days a week, which is nice for a tech role. We get two WFH days, which is pretty standard for a mid-sized fintech. It's a decent setup for managing personal stuff.
The in-office days are pretty strict. There's not much flexibility beyond the set hybrid schedule in the Chicago office. It can be tough if you have an unexpected need to work remote.
Give employees more autonomy over their hybrid schedule. A little more understanding for ad-hoc remote requests would go a long way, especially for tech roles.
