Description
The Testing & Commissioning (T&C) Technician is responsible for ensuring the proper functioning, safety, and compliance of elevators and escalators prior to handover. While not primarily tasked with installation, the technician must have sufficient knowledge of installation processes to verify workmanship, identify deficiencies, and perform necessary adjustments and troubleshooting.
- Conduct pre-dispatch and pre-commissioning inspections of delivered or installed equipment.
- Verify that installation works carried out by installers/foremen conform to manufacturer standards and project specifications.
- Identify deviations, defects, or incomplete works and raise non-conformance reports (NCRs).
- Perform complete functional and safety testing of elevator and escalator systems (leveling accuracy, door operation, overload, emergency systems, etc.).
- Calibrate and adjust electrical, mechanical, and safety components to achieve compliance with standards.
- Operate systems under load and evaluate performance, power consumption, and safety devices.
- Complete T&C checklists and submit official commissioning reports.
- Diagnose electrical, mechanical, and control system issues using diagnostic tools.
- Perform corrective adjustments on motors, brakes, door systems, sensors, and control panels.
- Coordinate with installers and project engineers on rectification works as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, test results, adjustments, and NCRs.
- Prepare compliance reports for project turnover and client acceptance.
- Provide feedback to the Compliance and Project Management teams on recurring issues.
- Work closely with Project Engineers, Compliance Officers, and Installers to ensure project readiness.
- Support client inspections, third-party audits, and government regulatory checks (if applicable).
- Participate in technical training programs and share learnings with team members.
