Full Stack Engineer Node.js + React.js (Backend Heavy)

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain web applications using React.js (frontend) and Node.js (backend)
• Design, build, and consume RESTful APIs
• Design, build, and maintain scalable Node.js backend services, REST/GraphQL APIs, and data pipelines that power clinical or healthcare workflows.
• Own database schema design, query optimization, and data integrity across relational (PostgreSQL / MySQL) and/or NoSQL (MongoDB) stores.
• Implement and maintain authentication, authorization, audit logging, and data security practices aligned with HIPAA / GDPR requirements.
• Write self-documenting, handoff-ready code — clear naming, inline comments explaining non-obvious decisions, and consistent structure so another engineer can pick up your work mid-project without needing to ask you anything.
• Use AI coding tools (Copilot, etc.) to accelerate development, while critically reviewing, cleaning up, and fully owning all generated output before it reaches the codebase.
• Collaborate with product and clinical stakeholders to translate domain requirements into reliable technical solutions.
• Contribute to frontend features in React when needed — not your primary role, but you can step in without friction.
• Participate in code reviews, define engineering standards, and mentor junior engineers.

Required Skills & Experience

• 4+ years of professional software development experience, majority backend-focused.
• Deep expertise in Node.js — async patterns, performance tuning, memory management, production debugging.
• Strong experience designing and building REST or GraphQL APIs used at scale.
• Solid command of relational databases (PostgreSQL preferred) — modeling, indexing, migrations.
• Ability to articulate implementation decisions step by step — not just deliver working code, but explain the reasoning behind it clearly.
• Demonstrable habit of writing handoff-ready code: consistent naming, clean structure, meaningful inline documentation, minimal tribal knowledge.
• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure — AWS, GCP, or Azure — and containerization (Docker / Kubernetes).
• Strong written and verbal communication — you can explain a technical tradeoff to a non-technical stakeholder.
