Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Tableau Administrator with strong expertise in Tableau content migration, server administration, validation, and post-migration support. The ideal candidate will be responsible for migrating Tableau assets across environments while ensuring data accuracy, dashboard functionality, and seamless user experience.
Key Responsibilities
Tableau Content Migration
- Perform end-to-end migration of Tableau assets including workbooks, dashboards, reports, published data sources, extracts, projects, permissions, and schedules.
- Rebind dashboards to new data sources on target environments.
- Preserve metadata, ownership, dependencies, and security settings during migration.
- Execute migrations using Tableau Server, Tableau Cloud, Tableau REST API, and CLI tools.
Data & Extract Validation
- Validate migrated data by comparing row counts, aggregates, and key business metrics.
- Manage and troubleshoot extract refresh schedules and performance issues.
- Resolve data connectivity, credential, and refresh failures.
Dashboard Testing & Validation
- Perform functional testing of dashboards, filters, parameters, drill-downs, actions, and navigation.
- Validate exports, subscriptions, alerts, and dashboard accuracy.
- Compare outputs between source and target Tableau environments.
Migration Governance & Reporting
- Maintain migration trackers, validation reports, defect logs, and status updates.
- Collaborate with migration teams, business stakeholders, and support teams throughout the migration lifecycle.
Cutover & Post-Migration Support
- Support migration cutover activities and production readiness validation.
- Enable schedules, validate dashboard availability, monitor subscriptions, and resolve user access issues post-migration.
Required Skills
- 5+ years of experience in Tableau Server / Tableau Cloud Administration.
- Hands-on experience with Tableau content migration and republishing.
- Strong knowledge of extract refresh management and troubleshooting.
- Experience with Tableau REST API and Tableau CLI.
- Understanding of SSO/SAML authentication (Azure Entra ID preferred).
- Experience with data connectivity across Databricks, Enterprise Data Warehouses (EDWH), SQL databases, and cloud platforms.
- Strong troubleshooting, validation, and stakeholder communication skills.
