Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Industrial Vacuum Truck Driver/Operator for a short-term project at a remote worksite in northern Labrador. This role will support industrial cleaning and materials handling activities in and around tailings pond areas. The successful candidate will be safety-focused, dependable, and comfortable working in challenging weather and remote camp conditions.
Primary Duties And Responsibilities
- Operate a turbo vacuum truck in a safe and professional manner in a mining or industrial environment.
- Perform liquid, sludge, and debris removal in accordance with site procedures and environmental requirements.
- Adhere to all environmental, health, and safety policies and procedures at all times.
- Complete pre-trip, post-trip, daily equipment inspections, and required documentation using Samsara and the maintenance tracking system.
- Set up hoses, fittings, vacuum breakers, and related equipment for safe transfer and vacuum operations.
- Perform general maintenance on equipment, including greasing PTOs and reporting mechanical deficiencies promptly.
- Work in and around tailings pond areas while following all site-specific controls, exclusion zones, and safe work practices.
- Work safely in extreme temperatures and challenging remote-site conditions.
- Complete field-level risk assessments, job hazard analyses, logbooks, and daily paperwork accurately.
- Communicate clearly with supervisors, dispatch, and site representatives while representing the company in a professional manner.
- Maintain a clean and orderly truck, equipment, and work area.
- Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, and Experience:
- Valid Class 3 driver’s licence with a clean driver’s abstract.
- Minimum 5 years of experience operating a turbo vacuum truck.
- Experience operating 6500 CFM blowers.
- Experience working with vacuum breakers.
- Experience working at remote sites and in outdoor northern conditions.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment fit-for-work medical and drug and alcohol screening.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Strong commitment to safety, situational awareness, and environmental compliance.
- Good communication skills and the ability to represent the company professionally on site.
Working Conditions
The Vacuum Truck Operator role will include physically strenuous activities. The Vacuum Truck Operator will be lifting, pulling and managing heavy equipment and objects, requiring the use of PPE such as hardhats, steel toe boots, and reflective vests to minimize risk on the worksite. The worksite environment for this position is outside in varying weather conditions.
