Job Summary
As part of the Survey Team, the Survey Lead is responsible for coordinating the office and the field survey support for all construction activities. This position is also responsible for verifying the accuracy of survey data, including measurements, calculations and quantities.

Primary Duties And Responsibilities
- Conduct all work in accordance with company policies, procedures, and programs.
- Coordinate the workflow from designs to field layout to final record drawings.
- Work with the CAD team to calculate progress and final quantities using Civil 3D.
- Read and understand design drawings, maps, and construction drawings.
- Prepare field notes and sketches to assist in survey interpretation of tasks performed.
- Work with and maintain various survey tools and survey equipment.
- Communicate job status with regular updates to supervisor outlining current conditions and upcoming schedule. Work with project team supervision to prioritize tasks.
- Establish and Maintain a survey control network.
- Aggressively seek out opportunities to provide survey support as a value added member of the team.
Health, Safety And Environment Responsibilities
- Adhere to local and externally relevant health and safety laws and policies.
- Adhere to company HSE system.
- Ensure appropriate priority given to HSE issues.
- Lead by example. Wear PPE & seatbelts, observe road rules, etc.
- Participate in investigation of incidents as appropriate.
- Ensuring safety of fellow workers
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, And Experience
- Must have minimum 3 years’ experience using Survey Equipment and Software.
- Must have minimum 3 years’ experience using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Must have minimum 3 years’ experience using Total Station for precision layout for concrete.
- Must have minimum 2 year post-secondary education with a concentration in surveying.
- Must have good communication skills.
- Must have computer skill proficiency.
- Experience required in establishing and maintaining Survey Control Network.
- Strong math skills required for survey calculations.
- Ability to work independently with little supervision, as well as in a team environment;
- Must have a valid drivers’ license;
Working Conditions
The Survey lead will require the use of PPE, Hardhat, Steel Toe Boots, and reflective vest to minimize risk on the worksite to minimize risk with field environments. Other PPE might also be necessary and will be driven by the environment of the work sites (Chain saw PPE..etc). The Survey Lead will also be required to work around mobile equipment (heavy and light duty. Care should be taken when working around mobile equipment to prevent accidents/incidents.
