Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Civil Construction Labourer to support the construction of sediment ponds and tailings infrastructure, and associated earthworks infrastructure. The successful candidate will possess extensive experience in heavy civil construction environments and demonstrate a strong commitment to safety, productivity, quality, and environmental compliance.

Primary Duties And Responsibilities

  • Support construction activities related to sediment ponds and tailings infrastructure, and large-scale earthworks projects.
  • Perform grade checking, layout verification, and assist survey crews as required.
  • Install culverts, HDPE piping, drainage structures, erosion control systems, and sediment control measures.
  • Assist with geosynthetic liner installation activities.
  • Perform hand excavation, trench preparation, backfilling, compaction, and site finishing work.
  • Work safely around heavy equipment and maintain effective communication with operators and supervisors.
  • Conduct material handling, rigging, spotting, and equipment support activities.
  • Install signage, fencing, pumps, and temporary works infrastructure.
  • Operate light equipment including compactors, pumps, generators, and other support equipment as qualified.
  • Perform daily housekeeping and maintain clean, organized work areas.
  • Participate in environmental protection initiatives and ensure compliance with site-specific environmental requirements.
  • Assist with inspections, quality control activities, and project documentation as required.
  • Identify hazards, report deficiencies, and actively contribute to site safety programs.

Health, Safety And Environment Responsibilities

  • Adhere to local and externally relevant health and safety regulations and policies
  • Adhere to the company’s and client’s HSE system
  • Ensure appropriate priority given to HSE issues
  • Lead by example. Wear PPE & seatbelts, observe road rules, etc
  • Participate in investigation of incidents as appropriate
  • Ensure the safety of fellow workers
  • Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, and Experience:
  • A minimum of 7 years’ experience in skilled heavy civil construction role(s)
  • Must be well versed in construction site protocols, rules and code of conduct
  • Ability to perform a variety of strenuous manual tasks
  • Ability to use independent judgment and action accordingly
  • Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner
  • Ability to effectively communicate with co-workers and supervisors to ensure that projects are completed
  • Applicants must possess the minimum of a valid Class 5 license.

Working Conditions

A Civil Construction Labourer is a physically strenuous and demanding job. This position will require lifting, pulling and managing heavy equipment and objects, require the use of PPE as required by the Company. The worksite environment for this position is a remote mine site working outside in varying weather conditions.
