Job Snapshot

We’re looking for a Direct Response VSL Video Editor who understands how to turn raw footage, scripts, and messaging into persuasive sales videos that drive action.

This is not a cinematic editing role.

This is not a “make it look cool” role.

We want an editor who understands conversion psychology, pacing, retention, emotional triggers, proof stacking, and how to keep viewers engaged long enough to convert.

If you specialize in editing Video Sales Letters (VSLs) and UGC-style direct response ads that sell physical/ecommerce products — and you know how to weave in product demos, real customer proof, and before/after sequences to drive sales — this role is for you.

The Role Overview

As our VSL Video Editor, your primary responsibility is to transform scripts and raw assets into high-converting direct response videos.

You’ll work closely with marketing and creative teams to produce VSLs that:

  • Hold attention
  • Increase watch time
  • Drive conversions
  • Communicate offers clearly
  • Emotionally engage the viewer

You should already understand the structure and pacing of:

  • Video Sales Letters (VSLs)
  • Direct response ads
  • Problem-solution storytelling
  • Hook optimization
  • CTA-driven editing


Responsibilities

  • Edit high-converting VSLs designed to generate immediate action from viewers
  • Create engaging pacing, visual flow, and retention-focused edits
  • Incorporate B-roll, captions, motion graphics, sound design, and proof elements strategically
  • Interpret scripts through a direct response marketing lens
  • Optimize videos based on feedback, conversion performance, and audience retention data
  • Source and integrate supporting visuals that strengthen persuasion and credibility
  • Collaborate with marketers, copywriters, and creative strategists to improve performance outcomes

Success in this role looks like:

  • Videos that maintain strong viewer retention
  • VSLs that clearly communicate the offer and drive conversions
  • Fast turnaround times without sacrificing quality
  • Strong understanding of direct response pacing and emotional sequencing
  • Continuous improvement through testing and iteration


Required Experience

We’re specifically looking for someone who:

  • Has experience editing direct response VSLs
  • Understands sales psychology and viewer behavior
  • Knows how to edit for conversion, not just aesthetics
  • Can structure edits that maintain attention throughout long-form content
  • Has a portfolio with at least one VSL for a physical/ecommerce product (not just info products, coaching, or courses). We want to see you sell something tangible.

Bonus if you have experience with:

  • Ecommerce brands
  • Paid social ads
  • UGC-style direct response creatives
  • Funnel-based marketing campaigns
  • Before/after style creative frameworks
  • Product demonstration-focused editing

You may use tools such as:

  • Adobe Premiere Pro
  • After Effects
  • CapCut
  • DaVinci Resolve
  • Frame.io
  • Google Drive / Slack / ClickUp
