We are looking for a talented Senior Java Engineer to become a core member of our new projects. As an Java Engineer at Star, you will handle a significant part of the project, work closely with the clients and be part of a team that creates useful, scalable products and solutions for real users. When you join our ranks, you will work closely with world-class technology entrepreneurs from the world’s most prominent innovation hubs. These include Silicon Valley, Scandinavia, the United Kingdom, Germany, and many other countries that may require business trips.
With our UK client, we are building a new and innovative credit card in-the-box solution: a B2B2C banking platform that will provide card issuance, processing, KYC, IBAN, payments, and other FS-related products.
Skills and experience you can bring to this role!
Qualifications & Experience:
- 5+ years of backend experience with Java and Spring Boot;
- Strong hands-on knowledge of Spring Cloud (OpenFeign, Stream, Gateway);
- PostgreSQL at production scale - complex queries, indexing, migrations (Liquibase); NoSQL experience is a plus (MongoDB or DynamoDB);
- Experience with JOOQ or Hibernate/JPA in real projects;
- Event-driven architecture with RabbitMQ or Kafka - DLQ, retry patterns, consumer groups;
- Microservices in practice: inter-service authentication, distributed tracing, contract-first API design;
- Multi-tenancy - understanding data isolation at the persistence layer;
- Integration testing with TestContainers, WireMock, JUnit 5;
- Gradle, Docker, CI/CD (GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or similar); AWS or GCP experience is a plus;
- Observability tooling is a plus - Micrometer, OpenTelemetry, distributed tracing;
- Curious about current tech trends and developments;
- Strong communication skills;
- Good English skills and willingness to speak directly to the customer.
What Impact You’ll Make
- Participate in requirement analysis, research implementation ways and possibilities;
- Proactively engage in research, discussions and decisions on software architecture and internal coding style, including architecture, process, and other standards establishment;
- Design, develop and maintain efficient, reusable and reliable code;
- Write unit and integration tests;
- Collaborate with the team members and customer representatives;
- Perform code reviews and share best practices with colleagues.
