Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Project/Construction Manager to oversee the construction sites, general contractors, and workers to ensure a high level of quality and safety.
- Report to senior management, overall responsible for the effective implementation and successful completion of construction project within schedule, cost and quality.
- Liaise closely with subcontractors, consultants and authorities; set guidelines and provide expertise and supervision to the team.
- Manage each phase of the project from design to completion and ensure efficient use of resources and enhance cost-effectiveness.
- Manage a team of Senior Engineers, Section Engineers, Engineers and inspectors for project management delivery.
- Work closely with project team and lead the team to achieve project goals and objectives.
- Manage Client expectations and manage meetings with client.
- Attend progress meetings with client and contractor and manage progress updates to the client on weekly basis.
- Manage Contractor and manage the Consultant supervision team to supervise the construction works on site and ensure implementation of appropriate SOP’s for construction works.
- Guarantees that all work is performed in accordance with approved methodologies and procedures.
- Ensures that the project is constructed and documented in accordance with the contract documents and good engineering practices.
- Develop and maintain project cost/change controls, and project budget and accounting records.
- Performs change order estimating and assists the Construction Manager/Project Manager in-change for negotiations.
- Coordinate and monitor schedule updates, invoices, and submittals.
- Assists in managing and reviewing the progress of contractors’ construction schedules.
- Reviews weekly and monthly reports on the status and progress of the contracts, including project costs and potential changes.
- Reports the status of project.
- Ensure implementation of appropriate HSE procedures and manage safety of construction works on site.
Recommended Qualifications, Skills And Experience
- Degree qualified civil/structural engineer,
- Professional Project Management Qualifications such as PMP is preferred
- At least 10 years’ experience in managing large scale civil engineering construction projects, of which 5 years were spent mainly on marine works that involved significant dredging, reclamation and rock works as well as wharf and jetty construction
- Experience in risk assessment, geotechnical and engineering works, environmental impact assessments, tender documents, site supervision and contract administration
- Other pre-requisites are excellent team spirit, strong technical competence, good interpersonal skills and with a “can-do” attitude.
