Were looking for a Junior Marine Underwriter whos eager to learn, ready to take on responsibility, and motivated to contribute to profitable growth in our Marine portfolio

  • Work Hours: 8:00 to 5:00 Mon-Fri

What Youll Be Doing

As part of our Marine Underwriting team, youll play a hands-on role in supporting business growth and maintaining strong underwriting standards.

Risk Assessment & Underwriting Support

  • Review proposal forms and underwriting documents for Cargo risks.
  • Evaluate new business in line with underwriting guidelines to support sustainable, profitable growth.
  • Recommend risk acceptance or rejection to Supervisors and Line Underwriters.
  • Assist in reviewing and updating Open Marine Policies (rates, terms & conditions).

Reporting & Analysis

  • Prepare profit & loss statistics and underwriting reports.
  • Analyze trends and provide insights to help Management make informed decisions.

Relationship Building & Business Development

  • Build strong relationships with clients, brokers, agents, and branches.
  • Support marketing efforts and contribute to business development initiatives.
  • Respond to inquiries related to Marine, Hull, and Aviation underwriting.

Operations & Quality Excellence

  • Maintain Cargo claims registers and support claims monitoring.
  • Ensure underwriting standards, procedures, and checklists are followed.
  • Contribute to process improvements and continuous quality initiatives.
  • Provide technical assistance across the underwriting workflow.

What Were Looking For

Education: Graduate of any 4 year business course

Work-Related Experience

  • With at least 2-3 years related work experience as a Marine Underwriter
  • Has completed the Basic Non-Life Insurance Course or Intermediate Course on Marine Insurance at the IIAP with Advanced Course on Marine is an advantage.
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills.
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational ability.
  • Confident communicator with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office tools.
  • A proactive mindset and willingness to learn.
