Ensures the products that ship to customers meet a high quality standard. Owns the QA Engineer agent — the AI that writes test cases, executes tests, creates unit tests, performs regression testing, and validates that implementations meet acceptance criteria. Defines the quality gate standards that determine whether a release is ready. Does not test manually — the QA Engineer agent does that.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Standards
- Define and enforce quality standards across all products
- Define the automated quality gate criteria for releases
- Establish test coverage requirements and testing strategy
- Conduct quality audits and trend analysis across products
QA Engineer Agent Ownership
- Own the QA Engineer agent — train and improve its skills to catch defects, write comprehensive tests, and validate requirements
- Define testing templates, coverage requirements, and defect classification standards
- Improve agent skills to reduce false positives and increase defect detection rates
Quality Governance
- Resolve quality disputes and edge cases that the QA agent cannot handle
- Collaborate with Product Engineers when quality issues require product decisions
- Track quality metrics: defect escape rate, test coverage, regression pass rates
- Collaborate with Software Architect on code quality vs. test quality intersection
Skills And Qualifications
This role requires a blend of hands-on QA expertise (from the QA Engineer track), automation leadership (from the QA Automation Lead track), and AI-native operational skills. The table below consolidates requirements across all three dimensions.
